It is hard to top the joy and honor of creating artwork that will be a part of someone’s wedding day. I love the process of getting to know the couple, and working with them to help make their special day perfect. For this project, Rachel and Stosh needed a wedding program for their northern Michigan ceremony, and I tried to capture the natural beauty of the setting in the materials, look and feel of the program.
After meeting Rachel and Stosh, I envisioned a design with watercolor calligraphy and ombre fern leaves adorning the cover page. I wanted the design to have the magical charming aspect of watercolor illustration and brush calligraphy.
The final execution looks deceptively simple, but was the result of countless trials, errors and emergency calls to the press printer in order to capture what I had imagined. In the end, I am so pleased with the way these came out, and most of all, I am delighted that the soon to be married couple loved the final design just as much.
